Community Development Action Hertfordshire
Energy Training Opportunity

ONE funded opportunity
Build the future. Power net zero.
Energy training for an unemployed person in rural Hertfordshire.
A local opportunity with a lasting purpose
Britain’s homes are often cold, costly to heat and wasteful of energy. Millions need improvements, from better insulation to more efficient heating and solar power. But there are not enough trained people to do the work.
At the same time, many young people are looking for a way into meaningful work. In rural Hertfordshire, older homes and limited transport can make both energy costs and access to training harder. We want to help local people build useful skills while supporting the communities they know.
Why a career in energy advice?
What we’re offering
We have one funded opportunity this autumn, covering two recognised courses:

NEA/City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness
Learn how homes use energy, ways to cut bills and where households can find help and funding. This qualification is used by energy advisers across the UK.
Read about the Energy Awareness course at National Energy Action.

PCN Level 1 Thermography
Learn to use a thermal imaging camera to identify where a building may be losing heat and how to interpret what you see.
Support beyond the courses
We’ll support you through your learning, help with practical barriers such as travel and offer hands-on experience at our community energy events in villages across Hertfordshire.
Is this for you?
This funded opportunity is for someone who is unemployed and lives in a village or small rural community in Hertfordshire. You might have just left college, or seeking a new career before retirement, have some training in electrics, plumbing or engineering, enjoy practical work, or simply care about helping people and the planet.
You do not need previous experience in energy.
