Energy Offers for Village Halls
Practical energy support for village halls and community buildings across Hertfordshire.
Understand your energy use, explore improvements and choose the next step that suits your hall.
Your hall’s energy journey
Start with a self-assessment and tariff review, move to an EPR assessment, and explore optional solar/PV and battery options. You can start at the stage that suits your hall.
1. Self-assessment and tariff review
Download our existing Remote Building Assessment template to review your hall and gather information about its energy use before deciding on the next step.

Check your hall’s energy costs and contracts as part of your first review. Our partnership with Utility Aid can help you understand your current arrangements and explore tariff options.

An Energy Performance Report helps you understand your hall’s energy performance and consider practical improvements. Your EPR is a private report and is not publicly registered.
View an illustrative domestic EPR sample (PDF, opens in a new tab). This shows the style of report; your hall’s report will reflect its building and use.
£249 standard price; £199 for Village Halls Network members. Log into your member account for the member price.
The first 10 village hall EPRs are fully funded for members only.
3. Optional solar / PV and battery options
If you would like to explore solar panels, ask about a solar/PV survey for your hall. This is an optional next step and is separate from the EPR assessment.
We will discuss your building and explain the survey arrangements before you decide whether to proceed.
Ask about a village hall solar/PV surveyCould battery storage help your hall?
A battery can store solar electricity for later use, or charge from the grid at suitable tariff times. Whether it makes sense for your hall depends on its electricity use, booking times, tariff and the cost of the system.
We work with ESME Energy to explore battery options. Contact us to discuss a suitable assessment for your hall, with or without solar panels.

The following documents and information are needed to complete your solar/PV report. They are not required for the EPR booking.
- Full installation address and postcode.
- Complete electricity bills for the last three months, showing the full address, current tariff and MPAN.
- Annual electricity usage in kWh, provided separately if not shown on the bills.
- Confirmation of whether the electricity supply is single-phase or three-phase.
- Hall opening hours, regular bookings and days of use.
- Details of any existing solar panels or battery storage.
- Confirmation of building ownership or permission from the owner to install.
- Half-hourly electricity consumption data for the last 12 months, if available.
- Details of major electrical equipment, seasonal usage changes and planned increases in consumption.
- Roof plans, measurements and photos, if available.
Photos of the roof, electricity meter, supply equipment and consumer unit or main distribution board would be helpful if available. We can take these during our site survey and confirm the supply type if you are unsure.
