Village Hall Conference 2026
Today we were delighted to host the CDA Herts Village Hall Conference, bringing together trustees, volunteers, partners and supporters from across Hertfordshire’s village hall network.
Village halls remain at the heart of rural communities. They are places where people come together for activities, services, celebrations and support. Today’s conference was an opportunity to recognise that role, share ideas, and explore how halls can continue to thrive in the years ahead.
The programme included a range of practical sessions covering topics such as digital inclusion, volunteering, health and wellbeing, and maintaining healthy community buildings. We also explored emerging opportunities around community energy and how village halls can play a role in the transition to more sustainable local energy systems.
One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity for hall representatives to talk with each other, exchange experiences, and make new connections with organisations offering support and services. The energy in the room reflected the dedication of the many volunteers who keep these important community spaces running.
We would like to thank everyone who attended, contributed, or supported the event. Your commitment helps ensure that village halls continue to be welcoming, vibrant spaces at the centre of village life across Hertfordshire.
Below are some photographs from the day.
A memorable moment came when colleagues from the Hertfordshire Sports Partnership got the whole room on its feet. In a burst of energy and good humour, delegates joined in a light-hearted activity set to I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers. It was a great reminder that keeping active can be simple, social, and fun, and it certainly helped lift the energy in the room for the rest of the event.
Huge thank you to all the sponsors and presenters, that made this an awesome event.
