Connecting Hertfordshire – Safely and Confidently
Digital Inclusion is a project helping local people, communities, and organisations across Hertfordshire gain the skills and confidence to get online, use digital tools, and stay safe in the ever-changing digital world.
CDA Herts has been improving the lives of elderly rural residents through the internet at our Digital Learner Drop-In Sessions held in Village Halls across Hertfordshire. The project is funded by Clarion Futures and the ICB of Herts and West Essex, and supported by our trained local Digital Champions and Digi-Buddies.
Residents of villages including Little Hadham, Datchworth, Benington, Tewin, Ickleford and Aston have benefited from free, community-based Village Hall sessions, providing help and advice with many of the regular activities people now do online.
What We Do
Our friendly, informal drop-in sessions cover:
- 💳 Online Shopping & Bills – Helping residents shop online, pay bills safely, and manage accounts.
- 💊 Prescriptions & NHS App – Guidance on ordering prescriptions, booking appointments, and using the NHS App.
- 📧 Email & Communication – Support with setting up email accounts, video calling, and staying in touch with family and friends.
- 🖼️ Photos & Media – Organising, storing, and sharing photos and videos safely online.
- 🔐 Staying Safe Online – Tips on avoiding scams, protecting personal information, and recognising phishing attempts.
“As a person of senior age living on my own and with no family members nearby, I find the weekly IT support sessions invaluable in helping me keep afloat within the ever-changing digital world.”
We are always looking for additional local volunteers to help sustain the project – find out more on our Volunteer Opportunities page.
