CDA Herts Digital Inclusion Project in Partnership with Clarion Futures

We are very pleased to have received some funding from Clarion Futures to provide Digital support for isolated rural people in East Herts.

Isolation can lead to loneliness which brings health and wellbeing problems and we have many concerns for those who have been in lockdown but also not able to make use of the benefits available through the internet.  Online shopping has become the norm as has meeting loved ones through video platforms such as Zoom or Facetime. Imagine if you were on your own unable to go out, with only the TV and telephone for company and maybe an occasional friendly neighbour?

Our aim is to run a number of sessions from Village Halls, when it is safe to do so, over the Winter and Spring.  We will provide a friendly, informal environment with the equipment required, and refreshments, to enable our learners to become familiar with how to use a laptop or an ipad, connect to the internet, send an email and meet someone virtually.

Our first job is to recruit volunteer Digital Champions who will assist with local publicity, recruiting learners and organising and delivering the sessions. Once we have agreed venues with the Village Hall Committees we will start to publicise, so watch this space.
