You asked for help to stay connected digitally

Hello. You are one of the many local residents who asked for help with some aspect of using digital technology, via the recent Social Connection Survey you kindly completed.

To follow this up, we’d like to find out a little more about how we can help and to see if there is anything else you may need to help you stay safe and connected digitally. This might include help with using your computer, iPad or smart phone, making video calls with friends and family, or accessing services such as your GP, NHS, food shopping or banking.

We will endeavour to contact you this week on the telephone number you provided on the survey.

The Survey Results

The survey has told us that the top 6 requests for help are for:

• Scams awareness & personal security online. (See info at bottom of email )

• Video calls to connect with Family/friends, NHS & other appointments  

• Ordering food, medicines and accessing other key services online

• Using digital tablets such as an iPad 

• Using streaming services for activities and entertainment

• Improving broadband connections

We have some fantastic local technology buddies available to talk to you over the telephone, via email or a video call to start the ball rolling whilst we are in tier 2. Once lockdown eases, they will be able to visit you at home if required.

We will also be setting up regular ‘drop in’ digital clinics at our village halls, where you and others residents can pop in for further advice on an ongoing basis, to help you feel safe, secure and more confident with the technology you have or wish to have in the future.  And have a chat and cuppa at the same time.

If we don’t hear from you by the end of this week, we shall try to call you during next week on the telephone number you provided via the survey in case you are not using email at this time.
